Ziggo Sport confirms the rumors that the station is really stealing all European football from RTL and SBS. After losing Formula 1, the channel is putting itself back on the map.
RTL and SBS are very disappointed: they are losing all European football. Now Ziggo Sport confirms that they are the party that is stealing the rights. The station has acquired the exclusive rights to the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League. The agreements apply for three football seasons: from mid-2024 to mid-2027.
All under one roof
It is the first time that the most important European club competitions have come under one roof. All matches and highlights will be shown exclusively at Ziggo Sport. “The programming will be further elaborated in the coming months.”
Some of the football should be available to everyone for free. How will Ziggo do that? “All football matches of the participating Dutch clubs can in any case be streamed for free for everyone in the Netherlands via the Ziggo GO app. Ziggo customers can also watch the most important matches on channel 14.”
Important step
According to a spokesperson, Marcel Beerthuizen, director of Ziggo Sport, knows ‘like no other how to bring sport into all living rooms, whether it is car racing, Dutch top sport or international top football’. He is pleased that he has succeeded in acquiring the rights from UEFA.
The broadcaster says: “This is an important step for Ziggo Sport. We believe that the best sports content belongs on the largest sports channel in the Netherlands. Our track record, many years of partnership with UEFA and love for football ensure that you can now turn to Ziggo Sport for UEFA club football.”
