In the Australian Open, the first grand slam tennis tournament of the season, Chinese Qinwen Zheng beat Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska 2-0 and reached the final.
In the women’s singles semi-final match on the 12th day of the tournament held in Melbourne, number 12 seed Zheng faced world number 93 Yastremska, who came from the qualifiers.
Defeating her opponent 2-0 with 6-4 sets in the fight that lasted one hour and 42 minutes, Zheng qualified for the grand slam final for the first time in her career and became the opponent of the number 2 seed Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka.
The women’s singles final match between Zheng and Sabalenka will be held on Saturday, January 27.
