Zelensky privately proposes to attack Russian territory and its pipeline to Hungary, according to ‘The Washington Post’

Ukrainian President, Volodimir Zelensky, would have privately raised the possibility of attack and conquer Russian territory or blow up the pipeline that supplies Russian oil to Hungary, according to US secret service documents which collect internal communications from the Ukrainian president with his military chiefs, quoted by the newspaper ‘The Washington Post’.

Until now Zelensky has won the support of its western allies with promises that he would never use the weapons they give him to attack Russian territory, but according to these sources he would be speculating with offensive actions and with the use of long-range missiles to attack targets inside Russian territory.

Zelensky’s digital communications have been intercepted by the United States, who has transferred this information to his military leadership. Senior Pentagon officials have not questioned these data, according to the newspaper.

risky actions

In these communications, Zelensky is sometimes the one who puts a stop to the proposals of his advisers, but in others it is the president himself who proposes risky offensive actions, as in a text from the end of January in which he proposes “attacking in Russia” and “occupy Russian border cities” to “give kyiv something with which to bargain with Moscow.”

Subsequently, in mid-February, Zelensky asked Deputy Prime Minister Yuliya Svridenko to “blow up” the Druzhba pipeline, a Soviet-era conduit through which Hungary received Russian oil. “Ukraine should blow up the pipeline and destroy the industry of the Hungarian Viktor Orbán, which depends on Russian oil,” she said.

The ‘Post’ asked Zelensky in kyiv about this information, and called the speculation “fantasy” on the occupation of Russian territory by Ukraine. However, he defended the use of “unconventional” tactics to defend the country from him. “Ukraine has every right to protect itself and we are doing it (…). When so many people have died in mass graves and our people have been tortured, I think we have the right to use any trick,” he argued.

These communications “reveal a leader with aggressive instincts that contrasts with his public image as a calm and stoic statesman enduring Russia’s brutal attack,” according to the ‘Post’.

The documents have been posted on Discord and his origin would be Jack Teixeira, a member of the Massachusetts National Guard which is already being investigated. They include information on the satellite technology used by Washington for espionage and data on allies such as the United Kingdom, Canada, South Korea or Israel and also on rivals such as Iran or North Korea.
