‘I need ammunition, not a lift’
The US government wants to help Zelensky leave Kiev so that he cannot be killed or captured by Russian troops. But so far he has refused to go. That writes the American newspaper Washington Post based on both American and Ukrainian officials.
Earlier Saturday, Zelenski showed himself combative: the president refused an American evacuation: “I need ammunition, not an elevator.”

The attack on Kiev started in the night from Friday to Saturday. The Ukrainian army announced overnight that it had been repulsed. ‘The anti-war coalition is working!’
On Saturday morning, Zelensky also wrote on Twitter that he had a conversation with Emmanuel Macron: “Weapons and equipment from our partners are on their way to Ukraine. The anti-war coalition is working!”
