Zelensky for better protection of the Dnipro region

KYIV (dpa-AFX) – According to Ukrainian head of state Volodymyr Zelenskyj, the Russian military has set its sights on the city of Dnipro in the southeast of the country as a priority target. “The danger is constantly high, and Russia sees the region as one of the main targets for its terrorist attacks,” Zelenskyj reported on his visit to the region on Sunday evening. In order to protect the region’s economic potential, air defense is being massively expanded. “We are working on expanding the capabilities to launch missiles and drones.”

During his trip to the region, Zelensky also visited Zaporizhzhia and the fronts in front of it. Air defense and electronic warfare resources also need to be strengthened there and in Kryvyi Rih, Zelensky noted. This is necessary to protect the critical infrastructure, i.e. electricity and water supplies. The goals are “protection against Russian air raids and ensuring social life.”

In recent weeks, as in the previous winter, Russia has repeatedly attacked targets in Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure with drones and missiles. These attacks are primarily intended to put pressure on the civilian population of Ukraine./cha/DP/he
