Zelensky compares Mariupol siege to Nazi siege of Leningrad

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has addressed the Russian people in his daily speech. “How does the siege of Mariupol differ from Leningrad?” Zelensky asked, referring to the city now known as Saint Petersburg, which was blocked by Nazi Germany for years during World War II. He also called Russia “a terrorist state”. The theater in Mariupol, believed to have been the target of a Russian bombing, was home to more than 1,000 people, according to Mayor Vadim Boichenko. He spoke of “a new tragedy”.
