Zelensky appoints delegation to negotiate with Russia on guarantees

The President of Ukraine signed a decree fixing the composition of the delegation during negotiations with Russia. In addition to the officials already participating, it included Minister of Justice Denis Malyuska and Ambassador Extraordinary Alexander Chaly

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed decree on the appointment of a delegation for negotiations with the Russian side and discussion of a draft treaty on security guarantees for the country. Thus, he officially fixed the composition of the participants in the negotiations from Ukraine.

The delegation includes 10 people: the head of the Servant of the People of France and the head of the delegation, David Arakhamia, people’s deputies Andriy Kostin, Dmitry Lubinets, Rustem Umerov, Minister of Justice Denis Malyuska, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak, Minister of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov, Deputy Foreign Minister Mykola Tochitsky, lawyer and expert of the delegation Alexander Malinovsky, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine Alexander Chaly.

For the most part, the composition enshrined in the decree coincides with the composition of the delegation announced by Kiev on February 28, the day negotiations with the Russian side began. Then it was announced about six members of the delegation, now Lubinets and Malyuska have been added to them. Malinovsky and Chaly.

Initially, the negotiations were held in person in Belarus, but then the parties switched to a remote mode of work. Face-to-face meetings resumed in Istanbul on March 29, when negotiations took place at the Dolmabahce Palace. At them, Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin, who is part of the Russian delegation, said that the discussion “has moved into a practical plane,” and that Kyiv has handed over its proposals on the treaty to Moscow.
