Zeidler wins the lead at the Rowing World Championships with ease

Defending champion Oliver Zeidler started the Rowing World Championships in Belgrade with a commanding victory. The two-time one-time world champion easily prevailed in front of Trevor Jones from Canada and the Norwegian Kjetil Borch in his heat on Sunday. The 27-year-old will continue in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.

Zeidler is the only candidate for a medal from the German Rowing Association (DRV) in the twelve Olympic boat classes. A large part of the tickets for next year’s Olympic Games in Paris will also be awarded for the title fights in Serbia. The DRV hopes to qualify with six to seven boats.

In the Olympic classes, the first medals will be awarded on Saturday. The Germany eight is required for the first time on Tuesday (1:33 p.m.) in the lead-up.
