Defending champion Oliver Zeidler has underlined his favorite position at the Rowing World Championships in Belgrade with the next sovereign victory.
The two-time world singles champion also won his quarterfinals easily ahead of New Zealand’s Thomas Mackintosh and Ryuta Arakawa of Japan. Should Zeidler make it into the finals in the semifinals on Friday, he would already have secured a ticket for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The 27-year-old is the only real candidate for a medal from the German Rowing Association in the twelve Olympic boat classes.
A large part of the tickets for the Olympic Games will also be awarded at the title fights in Serbia. The DRV hopes to qualify with six to seven boats. In the Olympic classes, the first medals will be awarded on Saturday.
