This is a temporary solution for victims. The social services provide intensive assistance in the search for a new home. Zedelgem is not a big city, but there is still a need for such an initiative. Ellen Goes, alderman of Social Affairs Zedelgem: “We always hope that this should be used as little as possible. But we still notice that there are on average 4 to 9 situations per year where we have to help people. And those people stay here on average 1 to 2 months until they can stand on their own two feet again.”

The flats are located above the social grocery store in the center of Zedelgem. The project costs more than 1 million euros, a large part of which was paid for with Flemish resources.
