NHL Society of Philadelphia Flyers long-term employees medical supervisor Jim McCrossin and a physics coach Sal Raffa have filed a civil lawsuit against the team owners.

Both McCross and Raffa have cancer. They say they got sick of the gases emitted by the Flyers training hall ice machine, Zambon in the vernacular.

The duo’s offices are located in the NHL training hall right next to the ice machine room, so they have been exposed to Zamboni carcinogens on a daily basis.

McCross suffers from rare myelofibrosis, a malignant blood cancer.

Raffa suffers from thrombocytopenia. It is a rare blood disorder for which there is no known cure.

According to the lawsuit, carcinogens such as benzene and PAHs, among other things, evaporate from the ice machine.

McCross has worked with Flyers for 25 seasons and Raffa for a total of 16 seasons.
