Zalando appoints Philippe Modeß to the position of Head of Buying Premium.
The position was newly created “in order to specifically look after the premium segment within the fashion range,” said Zalando at the request of FashionUnited. The specialist magazine Textilwirtschaft had previously reported on the personnel.
Modeß comes from within the company and was most recently active as Team Lead Buying Men’s and Unisex Accessories. According to his Linkedin profile, he came to Zalando at the end of 2013 from the Düsseldorf fashion retailer Peek & Cloppenburg. Meanwhile, Zalando is still looking for a Global Creative Director. Lydia Gries was active in this position until December, according to Berlin.
For its premium segment, Zalando relies on a mix of established luxury brands as well as street luxury and emerging brands, explained Lena-Sophie Röper, Director of Designer & Luxury at Zalando, in an interview with FashionUnited. In December there were 400 brands and almost 90,000 products in the range of premium contemporary, advanced contemporary and luxury segments.
The online retailer did not get support for this until November. Dennis Fehrenbach was appointed Head of Buying Designers.
