Eran Zahavi will leave PSV this summer. The striker says he will not sign a new contract and is negotiating with other clubs. The Israeli is in his second season for the Eindhoven team.
Zahavi says it’s the right time to leave. “It was mutually agreed that now is the right time to leave. I had a great time here. I love this club. Of course there were ups and downs but I will remember the good things.”
He doesn’t have to think long about his best memory. “That was the cup final. I will cherish that match for the rest of my life.”
Personal reasons
When asked about his motives for leaving, Zahavi mainly cites personal reasons. “I need a new challenge. But I am also leaving because of my family. We are ready for a new place. Of course things have happened in the past two years. They were difficult. But it is time to move on. Our time here it is.”
The Israeli is referring to the two robberies that his family had to deal with. They had a major impact on the life of his family here in the Netherlands, although the PSV attacker was and still is grateful for the support they received.
Future
Zahavi came over from Ghanzhou City two years ago. In Eindhoven he was largely successful but never undisputed. The striker has played a total of 77 matches in the PSV shirt so far. He scored 36 times and provided 15 assists.
The striker did not yet say where his future lies. His agent is in negotiations with several clubs. Zahavi will of course be kept informed, but he first wants to focus on the last matches with PSV. “After that I have enough time to make a decision.”
