Zach Dean’s outing sparked discussion on social media.
Undisciplined Canada paid a heavy price in the opening game of the World Junior Hockey Championships against the Czech Republic. The team that went into the tournament as a big advance favorite and host suffered a 2-5 loss.
After the game spoke Zach Dean’s A tackle aimed at the head on a player in the youth championship in Kärp Aleš to Čech. Dean was sent off for the tackle, during which the Czech Republic scored its last two goals.
Canada was only a goal away before the penalty, which added to the aftermath of the harsh ruling after the game ended in a shock loss.
The story continues after immersion.
Canadians who are used to the NHL rulebook criticized that the tackle should not have been given at least a jet command. For some, there was nothing wrong with the rivet.
– Sometimes the game is hard and there are crashes. This is what it was all about. If this is cool, bring pillows next time. Canada didn’t deserve the win, but neither did this shutout, one commented on Twitter.
– The IIHF has soft rules that I will never understand. It punishes players who play legally, but hard. They (the Czechs) clearly sold this verdict. It reminds me of football, another wrote.
In the opinion of some, the younger players do not yet know how to protect themselves from high tackles. of The Athletic NHL reporter Scott Wheeler observed from the stands that the referees’ decision was correct.
– Čech seemed to be in a daze. He went straight out of the rink. The crowd doesn’t like this, but the IIHF rulebook correctly condemns these high Tackles. If player safety is the primary goal, they must be protected from high tackles, Wheeler wrote to Twitter.

Canada’s captain Shane Wright said that he had watched the tackle situation several times on video.
– It looked like his (Dean’s) hands hit his chest and his head jerked back. I’m not sure about the verdict, but it is what it is, Wright commented to the media.
Canada was frustrated against the Czech Republic. Top promises Connor Bedard and Adam Fantilli tried to score with air floats. Canada froze three times at the end of the third period, leaving the Maple Leafs’ last goal in a torso.
Canada will next face Germany on the night before Thursday Finnish time. The Czech Republic is already playing against Austria in the coming night.
