Zaccheroni in intensive care: head trauma after a fall at home

Domestic accident for the coach from Romagna who suffered a head injury: he is hospitalized at the Bufalini hospital in Cesena

Alberto Zaccheroni has been hospitalized since this evening in the intensive care unit of the Maurizio Bufalini hospital in Cesena. In the late afternoon, the 69-year-old football coach from Cesenatico, who at the helm of Milan won the Scudetto in the 1998-’99 season, fell in his home in via Leonardo Da Vinci, hit his head violently on the ground and was therefore was immediately transported in a 118 ambulance to the Cesena hospital.

The doctors who promptly went to his home overlooking Piazza Ubaldo Comandini found Zaccheroni lying unconscious on the ground near an internal staircase. At the time of the fall, his wife Franca and Lara, the companion of their son Luca, were also in his house. The first treatments to save “Zac”‘s life were given for the heavy head trauma resulting from the fall, but there is no evidence that can explain whether it was the trauma itself that made the situation critical or whether the blow to the head was the result of a previous illness.

The tomographic examinations that were carried out in the evening at the Bufalini hospital trauma center painted a serious picture of the situation and for this reason Zaccheroni, who is in any case vigilant, was hospitalized in intensive care: the prognosis is in any case reserved.

In recent years, Zaccheroni’s life has always been in close contact with his friends from Cesenatico and those from football circles, whom he meets above all at Bagno Marè, the bathing establishment run by his son Luca. In January two years ago, “Zac” was marked by the disappearance of William Rossi, in Cesenatico known by the name of Paolo and with the nickname of Blek, who died of Covid. Although he was 80 years old, he was among the engines of Bagno Marè and was Zaccheroni’s best friend. The news was reported by Corriere Romagna.
