Pink Saturday, a pride tradition in the Netherlands, will come to Zaanstad in 2025. The event is organized in a different city every year, and according to the organization this is an excellent opportunity for Zaanstad to show its LGBTQ+ friendly side.
“Pink Saturday 2025 is a fantastic opportunity for Zaanstad to show itself to the whole of the Netherlands as an LGBTQ+-friendly city. In the selection procedure, the initiators convinced us with their extensive plans, broad support and enormous enthusiasm. They have shown us that they are capable of organizing a great edition, the Zaanstreek in all colors”, says Simon Timmerman, chairman of the Pink Saturdays Foundation Netherlands.
The plans were announced today during Pink Saturday 2023, in Goes. Next year the event will first go to Groningen.
Local authority
The municipality, together with De Zaanse Rainbow Foundation, Marketing Foundation Zaanstreek and Bureau Discrimination Affairs, has taken the initiative to bring Pink Saturday to Zaanstad. Alderman Gerard Slegers calls it ‘incredibly honorable’ that Pink Saturday is coming to Zaanstad.
Pink Saturday falls on June 28 in 2025.
