Zaanse schools open again tomorrow after threat of massacre: we now know this

Three Zaanse schools (a primary school, a practical school and a pre-vocational secondary education school) were closed all day today after someone sent a violent threatening e-mail to several teachers last night. What do we know so far?

It is known that a number of teachers of the school yesterday evening received an email in which clear language was used. The author of the email, who it is not clear yet, indicated that he would start a massacre at the school. The police cannot yet confirm whether this is actually the threatening letter sent, the email has been circulating on social media all day.

“Hello all, Tuesday, April 4, 10:30 am, the whole school will go to the cancer, people lying on the floor with blood on them, especially you teachers haha, will be the worst day of your life, take note. Regards, your dear friend.”

This morning around 11 a.m. the news came out that the VMBO school, like a nearby primary school and a practical school, had not opened due to the threat. An e-mail to the parents, which is in the hands of NH News but which the police do not want to confirm, states that the school has decided, in consultation with the police and the board, to let the students stay at home.

While much was still unclear about the threat, a possible second threatening letter also surfaced. In it, the writer made it clear that closing for a day was pointless and that he would allow again later.

The police came around 3:00 pm o’clock issued a statement stating that there was no imminent threat to the school. Why the schools were closed, according to the driver in consultation with the same police, is not clear. It also became clear that the school would follow the advice of the police for the rest of the week and will probably reopen from tomorrow.

Many questions

So many questions about this matter remain unanswered. For example, the police have not yet been able to arrest anyone for the threatening e-mails, and it is therefore not known how serious the threat was. It is also not clear why the schools were closed while the police did not speak of an acute threat.
