Zaans Medical Center sets patient stop and closes first aid: unexpected failure after power test

The Zaans Medical Center no longer accepts patients in the emergency room since yesterday. This is because the hospital is suffering from a malfunction, which arose after a power test. As a result, several systems failed. The health of current patients has not been endangered, the hospital said.

The malfunction has now been resolved and most systems are working again, but the recording stop at the emergency room will remain for a while.

This is done to ensure the safety of patients, the hospital spokesperson said. The Zaans Medical Center is still looking at when it can open again for new patients.

Short voltage dip

The problem was caused by an unexpected short voltage dip while running the current test. As a result, different systems have gone out and various functionalities no longer work properly.

The Medical Center conducts such a power test twice a year to ensure that all electricity-dependent facilities start up again in the event of a calamity. The test has always gone well for the past five years.
