Ronald Koeman is going to work for the second time as national coach of the Dutch national team. The born Zaandammer will take over from Amsterdammer Louis van Gaal on January 1, 2023. That is after the World Cup in Qatar that takes place in November and December.
“I’m looking forward to the new collaboration,” says Koeman. “A little over a year and a half ago I did not leave the Dutch national team out of dissatisfaction. My stay felt good, the results were good and the click with the internationals was good. We will continue on that path. That is certain for me. .”
In the summer of 2020, Koeman decided to leave the Orange squad after two years. He became a trainer at his dream club FC Barcelona. Koeman has been without a club since October last year, after the Spanish club fired him.
Koeman, who was previously a trainer at AZ and Ajax, has signed a contract up to and including the 2026 World Cup.
