Yvonne Coldeweijer thinks Gordon’s Qatar statements are ‘not so cool’

Yvonne Coldeweijer maintains a friendly contact with Gordon, but she is less enthusiastic about his Qatar statements in Op1. “I didn’t think it was that cool.”

Gordon caused a lot of annoyance last week with his performance in the talk show Op1. Critics believe that he downplayed the abuses in Qatar, where thousands of migrant workers have died during the construction of stadiums. And Yvonne Coldeweijer also thinks that the singer has gone wrong with that.

Not so cool

It surprised Yvonne quite a bit. “I didn’t think it was that cool and you know I think Gordon is cool and funny myself, but those statements just couldn’t be,” says the juice queen in her podcast The Juice Show.

She continues: “Then he’s hiding under: ‘We shouldn’t all be so woke’, but then I think: well, ho ho ho, wait a minute. Just because you don’t want to be woke doesn’t mean you can’t look critically at situations.”

“Can’t, dude”

Yvonne notices that her co-host Mark Koster is a bit more on Gordon’s side on this point. She says: “Yeah, you’re already hitting it again when someone says: ‘Let’s not be so woke.’ Then you think: oh yes, indeed, because I am not woke either, so it is all nonsense what is happening in Qatar… That is not possible, dude.”

Mark: “Well, I do have a hard time with it, yes. What I find funny about Gordon is that he has never been so well read. I like that about him and he always just follows the crowd and then he goes loud. I always find Gordon as a phenomenon interesting.”

“That bitch!”

It does bother Mark a bit how Gordon was approached in Op1. “I think so, and that is harsh criticism of Op1: you invite that man to that program and then Giovanca will pretend it is a Watergate affair and there is a big monster there. Everyone goes to stupid Dubai!”

And Yvonne still thinks that the woman who ran away because of Gordon’s opinion reacted very exaggerated. “That bitch that left! That’s just a bitch. What a bitch! What are you leaving? Why are you leaving? I find that very special. You can also just say, “Excuse me, can I say something?” I really think this is bullsh*t what you’re saying, Gordon.’”
