Yvonne Coldeweijer angers Volkskrant mister: ‘Nasty!’

Yvonne Coldeweijer causes a lot of anger at Toine Heijmans, a columnist for de Volkskrant. He goes all out on the juice queen. “It’s just filthy, dirty gossip!”

She is the fright of many celebrities: juice queen Yvonne Coldeweijer. She has shaken up the landscape of the Dutch show media enormously and no one can ignore that. The regular show media tried to ignore her for a long time – Evert Santegoeds even refused to mention her name for a while – but that is also a thing of the past.

Too much attention

In fact, serious media such as de Volkskrant and NRC Handelsblad also report about Yvonne and her juice channel, for example during her legal battle with Rachel Hazes. And that is something that defies Volkskrant columnist Toine Heijmans. He goes into the podcast Cultural Baggage completely loose on the juice queen.

Filthy and filthy

Toine thinks Yvonne gets too much attention. “We also had a piece about it in the newspaper and then the headline is: ‘Juicequeen Yvonne Coldeweijer again reprimanded by the judge.’ I think that is the laundering of that way of working,” he complains.

He continues: “It is not the case that we as a newspaper do that on purpose, but I am really worried about that. Also the word ‘juice’ or ‘juicequeen’, it all sounds so nice, but it’s just dirty, dirty gossip.”

money laundering

What exactly does Toine mean by money laundering? “What you see is that serious journalists are also venturing into the subject. You can see that newspapers such as AD and NU.nl take this very seriously.”

He continues: “In fact, the ANP already started on the day of the trial at half past three in the morning with an extensive background piece. That is what I mean by money laundering: it is also interesting for serious journalists to engage in this.”

Village square

Colleague Emma Curvers finds this attention less strange. “But Toine, don’t you think… Part of what you call money laundering is simply a consequence of the fact that they have already raised issues several times in that short period of time that turned out to be of social importance? About transgressive behavior and abuse.”

She continues: “With that they have started serious business and they have become part of the whole ecosystem, because people still have the feeling: if I want to listen a little in the village square, then I will keep those juice channels in. the holes, because you never know what will float up there again.”

Money and attention

It doesn’t sit well with Toine, especially that Yvonne uses that juice to promote her clothing line. “She has a very strong financial interest in it. If you watch those films, it starts with Coldeweijer, who, with a very large glass of white wine in her hand, will first tell you what is on offer at her webshop.”

Toine, who is herself in a podcast that is not only preceded but also closed with advertising, concludes: “That already shows what they really care about: money and attention.”
