Yves Lampaert and Alec Segaert to World Championships in Glasgow
The riders must complete a 271.1 km stage with 3570 vertical meters on August 6, starting in Edinburgh and finishing in Glasgow.
Today national coach Sven Vanthourenhout announces his selection for the World Cycling Championships. World champion Remco Evenepoel is automatically there. Wout Van Aert and Jasper Philipsen are also present. For the West Flemish selection we look in the direction of Yves Lampaert from Hulste, the only Soudal-Quick. Step teammate from Evenepoel, Tim Declercq is reserve.
Promise Alec Segaert from Lendelede has been selected for both the time trial and the road race. Warre Vangheluwe is also in the selection for the road.
Women
With the women, Lotte Kopecky fits to defend her title in the madison, due to the failure of her teammate Shari Bossuyt from Harelbeke. Kopecky will ride for the road race. Justine Ghekiere from Izegem can try to help her with a rainbow jersey.
Lindsey Devylder from Anzegem has been selected for the World Cup on track in the team pursuit, just like Nicky DeLOCKe.
