As in the previous year
The youth team from Borussia Dortmund is again in the round of 16 of the UEFA Youth League. Coach Mike Tullberg’s team won the playoff game at Scottish representatives Hibernian FC 2-1 (0-1) on Tuesday evening. The celebrated player of the evening was Joker Hendry Blank, who scored the winning goal for BVB in the 90th minute. Jacob Blaney (26th) had given the home side the lead and Julian Rijkhoff (70th), who recently renewed his contract, ensured the equalizer with a penalty.
“The tactical and personnel changes decided the game in our favor,” Tullberg is quoted as saying on the club’s website. He was glad “that we made it”. BVB reached the round of 16 for the third time in the history of the competition and for the second time in a row. Last year, the Black and Yellows came to an end in the quarter-finals when they drew 0-1 against Atlético Madrid. Which team the Dortmund talents now meet will be drawn on February 13 in Nyon, Switzerland.
