Youth League, Psg-Juventus 5-3: nightmare debut for the Under 19s

After last season’s semi-final, an approach to forget against the French: down by two goals after seven minutes, at one point there were even four goals

There is a sacred rule in football: the past counts for the coat of arms, but it is not a guarantee of results. Indeed, it often imposes it by keeping the bar of expectations high, but only the field returns the reality of things. Juve Primavera’s seasonal debut in the Youth League is a nightmare, for the attitude rather than for the result (5-3). For the approach to be forgotten and for the worrying inferiority shown in front of PSG, which also did not have to overdo it to break up the bianconeri. And it matters little if some of these last year made it all the way to Nyon, coming out with their heads held high in the semifinals against the Benfica champions: every game and every season is a story in itself.

FALSE START

Montero, on his debut in the competition, proposes Yildiz next to Turco and keeps Mancini on the bench. Mulazzi and Mbangula have the task of attacking the lanes to enhance the offensive phase, but the problems come from behind. So much so that the Parisians immediately pass with Housni, who only has to deposit at the net to give credit to the great work done by Gharbi and Muntu to send the entire Juventus rearguard into confusion. The joust becomes less and less pleasant when Zaire Emery runs away from compatriot Nzouango and goes into goal without effort: after 7 minutes of play, Juve are two goals down, PSG masters against a team in a doll.

BUCK AND ANSWER

A flicker of the singles would be needed, but Yildiz appears unconvinced when triggered by Mulazzi. And then Mbangula thinks to shorten the developments of a punishment and try to archive the first quarter of an hour of horror. The bianconeri slowly raise the center of gravity, increase territorial supremacy but, however, it is on the inactive balls that become more dangerous: the clearest opportunity comes with a header from Huijsen (also a direct shot on goal, not much before, by Doriatotto). For PSG, it always becomes too easy to present themselves on Scaglia’s side, so Housni brings the scoring to three, once again punishing the defensive line.

JUVE REACTION

There are all four goals that the home team imposes on the bianconeri at the end of the first half, after the scoring of Gharbi and Lemina at the end. That’s why Montero tries to change the cards on the table with the inclusion of Strijdonck and Hasa already at the beginning of the second half. Fresh mental forces are needed, because the first engages the opposing goalkeeper for the first time and the second shortens on a valuable free-kick from the edge. Scaglia, who works a miracle on Gharbi, closes the shutter to the end. While Turco earns a penalty and gives Huijsen the 5-3 ball. Doratiotto leaves the team in ten in the last minutes (double yellow), the match ends with two goals and a great lesson for the future.
