Youth League, Juventus-Liverpool 2-0 in the quarterfinals: bianconeri in the semifinals

Juve Primavera in the European format wins 2-0 in the quarter-final of the Youth League in a single match against Liverpool and merits the passage to the semifinals: at the beginning of the season, qualifying for the round of 16 was certainly a goal, but overcoming the quarterfinals is really a great satisfaction that rewards the work done by the club in recent years at a youth level. Miretti’s goals in the 66th minute and in the 70th minute decided.

Bonatti finds Miretti and Soulé for the occasion, Turco recovers from a long injury but starts from the bench. In Vinovo there was also a delegation of the technical staff of the first team – formed by Allegri’s deputy, Landucci, and by the collaborators Trombetta and Padoin – and the entire management with Nedved, Cherubini, Storari and all the managers of the technical area dedicated to Juventus youth activity. Full tribune in every order of places for the awaited European afternoon: Juve had never reached so far the competition.

The first Juventus attempt after two minutes is by Soulé, three minutes later Chibozo tries to pierce the opposing rearguard in the center but gets away with the exit at the edge of the goalkeeper’s area. Good verticalization of Juve in the 13th minute, Mulazzi would like to serve in a Turicchia cross but the ball is too long. Liverpool have to change the goalkeeper in the middle of the first half due to physical problems: Hewitson replaces Mrozek. Shortly after half an hour Miretti pits for Soulé, a high conclusion. The clearest chances of the first fraction in the 37th minute, after the exchange on the left of Iling and Turicchia, the latter’s cross for Mulazzi’s header that ends just wide; and at the end, with Chibozo who shows up in the area face to face with the goalkeeper but cannot find the space to overcome him. Before the break, Bonetti also tries, the ball is still high.

Bianconeri still dangerous at the beginning of the second half, Iling does not find the header on a cross from Savona. Miretti touches the post in the 58th minute but it is only the general rehearsal for the goal that arrives in the 66th minute: low shot from the edge that colds the opponents and establishes the well-deserved advantage. Bonatti’s team rides the moment and doubles three minutes later with Chibozo, who closes Mulazzi’s suggestion on the net, again at the initiative of Miretti. Juve is definitely the owner of the field. The guests try to react but without consistency, Bonatti doses his strength at the end with the changes and the match flows to the end without worries. Miretti, the great protagonist of the afternoon in Vinovo, leaves the pitch at the ninetieth and takes the applause of everyone: Allegri managers and collaborators included, everyone aware of having built up a great Italian talent for perspective at home. This was also a club goal a few years ago.
