FC Bayern’s youngsters started the new Youth League season with a defeat. The Munich talents lost 2-3 against FC Chelsea despite the intermediate 2-1 lead. The talent of the German record champion deservedly led to the break after Felipe Chávez (19th, 26th) had turned the game to Genesis Antwi’s leadership (15th).
The blues could not be disturbed and equalized shortly after the restart by Shumaira Mheuka (47th), before defender Harrison Murray-Campbell (62nd) brought Chelsea to the winning road with a dream goal. Sports board member Max Eberl and sports director Christoph Freund followed the game from the stands.
“The game brought everything today. In the first half we showed a great reaction to the fast gap, we are no longer satisfied with the second. We have to play adults, especially with the ball,” we will work on that, “said Bavaria’s U19 head coach Peter Gaydarov after the final whistle.
