Demi Vollering wins mountain stage shortened by avalanche, Anna van der Breggen close to overall victory

Demi Vollering has won the eighth stage of the Giro d’Italia. The Dutch number 2 in the general classification was the strongest in an uphill sprint between the top 4 in the classification. Anna van der Breggen finished fourth in the same time as Vollering and retains the pink leader’s jersey with one stage to go.
