Youth League: Defeats for Leipzig & BVB – Milan & Man City group winners

RB safely in second place

There were two defeats for the German representatives in the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday. Despite an early lead, Borussia Dortmund lost 1:4 (1:4) at AC Milan, RB Leipzig also led against Manchester City, but still lost 1:2 (1:0).

The Italians secured first place in Group F with twelve points. Kevin Zeroli (23′), Filippo Scotti (28’/31′) with a brace and Diego Sia (39′) turned the game in favor of the Rossoneri before half-time, Julian Rijkhoff had given BVB the lead in the 4th minute. Coach Mike Tullberg’s team now has seven points and is in second place, which qualifies for the playoffs. On the last matchday (December 13th), Dortmund hosts Paris Saint-Germain, who are in third place with six points. The first leg ended 1-0 for Borussia, and the Black and Yellows won the decisive direct comparison with fourth-placed Newcastle in the event of a tie on points.

That’s why RB can no longer push Man City out of first place, although the difference in points would justify this in another game (10 to 13). The first meeting in Leipzig ended in a 1-1 draw. Sebastian Heidinger’s team got ahead of Red Star and BSC Young Boys (three points each). Yannick Eduardo (40th) scored his fifth goal of the tournament with a penalty, Kane Taylor (62nd) and Josh Adam (75th) were successful for Man City.
