A little less than a month. That’s how long the construction groups that had to give color to this year’s anniversary edition of the Flower Parade in Frederiksoord. The theme of the 60th edition is ‘Entertainment Oe!’ but the organization has added another mission: to get the youth excited about building a car.
Workshops at schools, masterclasses from experienced builders and separate youth categories. The Corso Frederiksoord Foundation really does everything it can to transfer the tradition of car building to the next generation. “Of course we have been around for a long time and many groups have been participating for years,” says chairman Joost Ottink. “But we want to see how we can get new builders and maybe new cars. We also involve schools in that.”
Seven schools in the area were visited by the foundation. “The children were actually all enthusiastic”, Ottink concludes with satisfaction.
