Victoria Spolarics was born in Ukraine and moved to Europe as a child. He moved to Finland five years ago. He started his career as a nail artist at the age of 16 more than a decade ago.

Avoid these pitfalls

As a nail artist, Spolarics sees a few mistakes that customers make before sitting down for a nail treatment.

– Use hand or sunscreen just before coming to the nail care. Then the surface of the nail is more challenging to clean and the varnishes adhere more poorly.

Also, do not try to remove the previous gel or acrylic varnish yourself.

– If you try to remove permanent nail polish yourself, you will damage your own nails, and the new nails will not last as long. I recommend contacting a professional when removing the previous varnish, even if it costs a little extra, Spolarics advises.

Trust a professional in nail design as well.

– Do not file your nails before coming to the nail salon, as you may file them unevenly and damage them. Let the nail artist file your nails into the right shape.

Leave fragile cuticles alone before nail treatment.

– Avoid cutting cuticles at home. You may accidentally cut them with too heavy a hand, causing wounds, swelling or, in the worst case, infections, Spolarics warns.

If the cuticles need home care, you can gently push them back with a manicure stick. Cuticles should be treated at home with a moisturizing and effectively nourishing cuticle oil.

REMEMBER

The most common mistakes made before getting a manicure:

1. Creams are used just before

2. We remove the previous varnish ourselves

3. Shape your own nails

4. Let’s cut our own cuticles

How to make a manicure last?

The manicure will stay beautiful for a long time if you remember to take care of the cuticles.

– Cuticle oil keeps cuticles and nails moisturized, so they stay strong and healthy for longer, Spolarics advises.

Pay attention to what you use your nails for.

– Don’t use your nails as tools, they are rather jewels that decorate your fingers. All kinds of scratching, picking and opening of jars should be kept to a minimum. Even if the manicure is well and professionally done, the nails may still break if you don’t take care of them.

Protect your hands and nails when doing housework.

– Definitely use protective gloves when doing housework, i.e. washing dishes and cleaning. Strong chemicals and cleaning agents, as well as excessive soaking of the hands in water, lead to the varnish possibly coming off the surface of the nail, Spolarics advises.

In order for the nails to always look well-groomed, Spolarics recommends that you book a manicure appointment regularly.

– The easiest way to make sure that your nails stay beautiful all the time is to book a nail care appointment at intervals of about three to four weeks.
