‘You’re embarrassing next to Peacock!’

Sophie Hilbrand arouses pity among her TV colleagues now that she is being reinforced by Jeroen Pauw, because isn’t the contrast very great? “Of course you will see a difference in level.”

It’s all something for Sophie Hilbrand: first she gets the whole country all over her because people think her talk show Khalid & Sophie is too biased, then her buddy Khalid Kasem turns out to be a questionable type and now she suddenly gets reinforcement from the god among the talk show hosts. Won’t she soon pale if she alternates with Jeroen Pauw?

Outclass

Rob Goossens thinks that Jeroen will completely outclass her, he says at the desk RTL Boulevard. “Jeroen has of course regularly sat at the table with Khalid & Sophie, so he knows it so well that I’m a little afraid that if he sits there soon, they will say: ‘That Sophie can’t really do anything.’”

The program will be very popular with Jeroen, expects his ex-lover Daphne Bunskoek. “I think Khalid and Sophie also get involved to a certain extent, but I think that if you are so experienced, you put your own stamp on the program.”

Listening to Pauw

The editors will hang on Jeroen’s every word, while Sophie will only look more worried from the sidelines. Rob: “I also think it is much easier to listen to him, because he is simply Jeroen Pauw, because he already has a bond with the editor-in-chief. That’s how it happened. He was in contact with that when Khalid disappeared.”

Daphne thinks that the viewer will also develop a preference. “It is also nice for the viewers to see Jeroen Pauw sitting in that place again.”

Rob: “Yes, certainly. We are halfway through that time slot and I am more worried about the competition with Jeroen Pauw than Eva Jinek.”

Level difference

Jordi Versteegden, star reporter for De Telegraaf, feels really sorry for Sophie. “I have to say: for Sophie Hilbrand… You will of course soon see a very small difference in level. Sophie has grown as a talk show host, but well: Jeroen Pauw’s level is really high,” he says in an newspaper video.

Colleague Wilson Boldewijn points out the difference in background with Sophie: “He has always been a journalist, right, that also makes a difference.”

Jordi: “He is a coach of Khalid, among others, which also makes it striking.”

Bad for Sophie

Job Knoester also sympathizes with Sophie, he says Today Inside. “Also bad for Sophie, of course. Then one day you have a blast and the next day you look at Sophie.”

Johan Derksen: “Yes, she can’t win that.”

Wilfred: “Well, what is this, Job?”

Job: “I really like Jeroen.”

Wilfred in the breach

Wilfred is the only one who stands up for the troubled Sophie. “Yes, she is very good, but she can do it a little too, right?”

Job: “I haven’t really liked Khalid & Sophie lately, so I thought: there’s something here.”

Wilfred: “Yes, but if you saw a difference, I thought it was in Sophie’s favor. That one was a bit better.”

René van der Gijp: “She was by herself… It became painful at the end with Raoul Heertje and so on.”

Job: “Yes, it was very bad during the elections.”
