Your questions to the new mayor of Hilversum: “How will it become more lively?”

“This is simply the most beautiful municipality in the Netherlands,” said the proud new mayor of Hilversum. Gerhard van den Top has now completed the chain of office of ‘the media city’ for more than a week. NH News asked the residents of Hilversum what they wanted to know about their new mayor and then asked Van den Top the same questions.

“This position feels like a gift to me,” the new mayor begins the interview. “As a dyke for the Amstel, Gooi en Vecht water board, I had been active in this area for many years and I also live in Hilversum.”

With this, Van den Top is actually anticipating the first question, namely whether he wants to introduce himself. “I am the father of two children and I am married to Jacobina.” Being mayor is new to him, but Hilversum is definitely not. “I live in the Riebeeck myself and enjoy it immensely.”

Confess

The questions further range from the new mayor’s favorite color: “Blue, but please don’t wear all of that,” he jokes. To his vision to make the city a bit more lively again. “After two years, we can now build beautiful projects with the hospitality and culture sector. I am really looking forward to wonderful events in Hilversum.”

Elections

He has to excuse himself to several questions from viewers: “Those are not really tasks of a mayor.” But with that he likes to point directly to the upcoming elections. “You will have to vote for that in the elections later. Grab your chance on March 16, because then you can help determine that.”
