Youp van ‘t Hek normally always has his mouth open, but last night he literally couldn’t say anything at all on TV for seconds. “It affects you.”

Youp van ‘t Hek’s farewell tour has been sold out for months, but last night the richest comedian in our country – according to Quote – came with big news on Renze Klamer’s talk show: he has added one very last performance to the playlist. And not just any show, but one to raise money for the ALS Foundation.

For nothing

What is the reason? A childhood friend of Youp suffers from this fatal disease; During a lunch he said that his doctor Leonard van den Berg needs money for research. And Youp will now contribute to this by playing a performance for which the most expensive tickets cost 500 euros (!) each. The proceeds from that sold-out venue? Two tons.

Youp is not very keen on media appearances, but to promote this special evening in Carré, in the hope of increasing ticket sales a bit. pushhe was in the talk show by Renze Klamer. “I only play with my own four musicians that evening and then extra Matangi joins in and they do it for fun.”

‘Really and truly?!’

After a few minutes, while the comedian continues to praise his performance, Renze intervenes. “This was no longer necessary to sell it. I just heard: it’s already sold out.”

Youp is really scared. “Really and truly?! Haha… Well… Beautiful…”

Renze: “Yes, I think that deserves an applause.”

Then you can see that Youp is completely filling up. The tears pool behind his eyelids and slosh against his eyelashes. It won’t be long before it leaks onto his face.

‘It does something’

Renze notices that Youp literally can no longer talk. “That affects you, I see.”

Youp nods, but says nothing. Renze: “Beautiful, beautiful.”

Then: “Are you even… Because many people know you as a hard man, but yes, I actually see a very sweet, soft man here.”

Youp: “Just ask Chantal, right?”

Muse Chantal

Chantal Janzen is sitting opposite Youp at the table. The two know each other well and live close to each other in the city center of Amsterdam. He wants her as his muse, but she is always a bit difficult. Chantal: “Yes…”

Renze: “Beautiful, man. Have you ever been, Tom?”

EenVandaag star Tom van ‘t Einde: “No, never.”

Renze: “That is no longer possible.”

And just then Youp thaws a bit again. “Hahaha.”

You can also contribute to ALS research to donate directly to the ALS Foundation.
