Ajax has won the exhibition match against the German SpVgg Unterhaching with large numbers. It became 5-3 for the team from Amsterdam in Herzogenaurach. Ajax had a hard time in the first half (2-1 behind), but turned it around after the break with goals from Benjamin Tahirovic, Mika Godts and Kristian Hlynsson, among others.
Mohammed Kudus was missing from the team from Amsterdam with a ‘slight injury’. The Ghanaian seems to be leaving Ajax. He watched the game from the sidelines. Thanks to a quick goal from Simon Skarlatidis, Ajax’s start to the exhibition game was also dramatic: 0-1. Mohamed Daramy, who got a starting spot from Maurice Steijn, and Brian Brobbey both had great chances to equalize. Goalkeeper of the Germans, René Vollath, turned out to be an obstacle for the Ajax players.
Markus Schwab then also doubled Unterhaching’s lead: 0-2. The answer from Ajax was not long in coming. First Gabriel Misehouy shot on the crossbar and after a handball the team from Amsterdam received a penalty. Brobbey remained cool this time and converted the penalty: 1-2. Misehouy saw a bet go just wide of the goal before the break.

The resistance of the Germans was quickly broken in the second half. After a splitting assist from substitute Branco van den Boomen, Kristian Hlynsson scored the equalizer. Ajax was accurate again a few minutes later. This time Van den Boomen gave the assist to Mika Godts: 3-2.
Via Benjamin Tahirovic (his second) and Steven Bergwijn, the score expanded to 5-2. That score seemed to be the final score for a long time, but Unterhaching did something in return. Josef Gottmeier scored the goal. There were no more hits, leaving it 5-3.
Ajax will remain at a training camp in southern Germany until next Saturday. FC Augsburg is the opponent next Saturday.
