Although he missed the first months of the season due to a ligament injury, Gabriel Marusic has recently worked his way up to the professional squad of FC Bayern: in the Bundesliga game against SV Werder Bremen (6-1) and the Champions League game against Inter Milan ( 2-0), the 20-year-old central defender was already in the squad, but the Croatian is still waiting for his debut. A fact that will not change anytime soon.
As FC Bayern announced on Thursday, Gabriel Marusic will be “missed for a long time” by the Munich team. The “bitter diagnosis”: The youngster suffered a cruciate ligament and medial meniscus tear in the FC Bayern II game against FC Augsburg II (3-2) on Wednesday evening.
In the current season, Marusic has made ten appearances for the Munich side in the Bavarian regional league. The former Croatian youth international was in the starting line-up eight times.
For FC Bayern II, Marusic’s absence is the second blow in the neck within a very short time: on Wednesday, the team had to announce that Eyüp Aydin would not be available for “several weeks”.
SpVgg Unterhaching has rushed FC Bayern II
The 18-year-old is a defensive midfielder for FC Bayern II and has already played 23 games in league four over the course of the season. Aydin scored three goals and prepared four goals.
In the Bavarian Regionalliga, Bayern are currently in third place. Table leader SpVgg Unterhaching, however, is already a whopping 16 points ahead of them. Only the first plays in the playoffs for promotion to the 3rd division.
