Youngster moves to the Premier League

Defender Chris Richards is leaving Bayern Munich and moving to English Premier League club Crystal Palace, the Munich team announced.

The American switched from FC Dallas to FC Bayern in 2018, but has only played ten competitive games for the professionals since then.

After the commitments of the two defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, Richards would probably only have remained the reserve role in defense in the new season. Most recently, the 22-year-old was loaned out to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

It was Richards’ great wish “to prevail in the Premiere League,” said Bayern’s sports director Hasan Salihamidzic. “We wanted to make that possible for him and we wish him all the best at Crystal Palace.”

The media recently reported that the transfer fee should be between 15 and 20 million euros including possible bonus payments.
