What a nasty scam!

A man (52) observed on Saturday evening how an elderly lady, supported by a significantly younger woman, entered a U5 train at the Unter den Linden station.

What initially seemed familiar to him then became unusual when the younger one – unnoticed by the older one – reached into her handbag while driving and pulled out a wallet.

When he spoke to her, the thief dropped the loot. The man and other passengers were able to hold them until the police arrived at the Rotes Rathaus underground station.

The 34-year-old was arrested there. The robbed 79-year-old got her wallet back.
