Young woman (21) dies after collision with bicycle in Koksijde
The accident happened on Tuesday around 7.30 pm at the intersection of Koningstraat and Langeleedstraat in Wulpen, a sub-municipality of Koksijde. A young woman was cycling in Koningstraat and was hit by a vehicle at the T-junction with Langeleedstraat.
Emergency services rushed to the scene to provide first aid. The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition. She later died there.
No priority
The Veurne public prosecutor’s office sent a traffic expert to the scene to investigate the precise circumstances of the accident. According to the expert’s initial findings, the car should have given way from the right. His view may have been obstructed by greenery on the side of the road, but that is still being investigated.
The driver’s license of the man in his forties was immediately revoked for fifteen days.
