Known for his misanthropy, shrewd mind and love of classical music, Swedish detective Kurt Wallander comes in many guises. First of all, of course, as the main character in the Wallander books by the Swedish author Henning Mankell (1948-2015), in which he was constantly involved in complex murder cases. Each and every one of them had – in the best Swedish tradition – the destructive effect of capitalism on the human soul as a common thread.
