He is probably the youngest entrepreneur to take action for Ukraine today. The 8-year-old Jasper from Nieuw-Vennep transfers the daily proceeds from his jam trade to Giro 555 today.
“Three years ago we started picking blackberries and making jam, and I thought: that could turn into a business,” Jasper tells NH Radio. It is now a successful business, says his father Leon, who taught Jasper the first intricacies of entrepreneurship. “He sells between ten and twenty jars a week.”
‘Orange man’
As befits a good entrepreneur, Jasper has come up with a catchy name for his product: Jaspers Jammie Jam† He sells them, among other things, from the stall of the ‘orange man’ on the Handelplein in Nieuw-Vennep, his father says.
“He is allowed to stand in that stall every Saturday, where the jam is among the fruit. Then he usually stands there for an hour, and then goes to play. He can leave the jam, and then the stall holder also sells a few jars for him .”
And not only sales, production is also in safe hands with Jasper. “I only do the last part of the cooking process, because it’s too hot,” says Jasper’s father.
Goal is thirty jars
When NH Nieuws visited him this afternoon, he had already sold seventeen jars of jam for Ukraine, but the young entrepreneur is far from satisfied with that. “Thirty”, he said resolutely when he was asked how many jars he wanted to sell for Giro 555.
In any case, there is no lack of attention for his action. Thanks to a tweet from the Haarlemmermeerse alderman Marjolein Steffens, Giro 555 has Jaspers initiative in mind as well.
