An underage boy wearing a balaclava has been arrested by police. He allegedly set fire to a terraced house at Cees Buddingh’hof with a lighter. The forensic investigation is now conducting an extensive investigation in the house where the fire took place last night.
Thanks to the help of observant local residents, a suspect was arrested soon after the arson. “Neighbors saw him run away,” confirms spokesman Erwin Sintenie. His motive is not yet known. “Because the suspect is younger than 18, we are not allowed to say anything about his place of residence and backgrounds.”
The forensic team conducts extensive investigations into the home in order to secure traces. “This way we can find out whether there is indeed a case of arson. We are also looking for traces of the perpetrator,” explains the spokesperson.
A sniffer dog has been deployed to help the police identify fire-accelerating substances, such as petrol.
