Several train passengers came to the aid of the stabbed conductor on a train at Schagen station this afternoon. Two boys tell NH what happened on the train prior to the stabbing and how they helped the police arrest the two suspects.
In a stabbing incident at Schagen station this afternoon around 4 p.m., a conductor was injured after being stabbed in the hand. A spokesperson for the NS said: earlier already told NH: “Unfortunately we see it often, violent crimes, attacks in and around the train, that is terrible.”
‘Red in the face’
After the stabbing, two young men explain what happened on the train. According to them, a random boy was ‘roggled’ (spit at – ed.) by one of the suspects, after which he said: ‘Take it off’. The conductor on duty got wind of the altercation and asked the two suspects for their tickets.
What followed was ‘pushing and pulling’ between the conductor and the suspects. Not much later, the conductor was stabbed in the hand by one of them.
Arriving at Schagen station, a group of twenty bystanders then single-handedly chased the two suspects. “We called the police and kept an overview.” This allowed the police to arrest one of the suspects at the station itself, with the second suspect not much later a few streets away.
