Young people De Zande place nesting boxes for little owls
Boys from the age of 14 who have committed or are suspected of committing a crime reside in the community institution. During the horticulture lessons they were given the task of providing a shelter and sleeping place for the little owls in the Gulke Putten nature reserve in Wingene. In a few weeks they will also ring the owls and follow up.

One of the youngsters testifies anonymously: “I made a nesting box for the owls. They are in danger and need it. I like to help them. Birds of prey are one of my favorite animals, especially owls.”
