Turkey had the most successful organization in its history at the Youth and Junior European Fencing Championship held in Estonia.
According to the statement made by the Turkish Fencing Federation, 45 national athletes sweated in the foil, sword and epee branches in the organization held in the capital Tallinn.
In the sword category, Nisanur Erbil won the silver medal in the young women, Tolga Aslan in the young men and Enes Talha Kalender in the star men won the bronze medal. Young Women’s Sword National Team came in third in Europe.
While the national athletes won 1 silver and 3 bronze medals in total, a historical success, Yildiz Men’s Sword National Team completed the season in the first place in Europe and won the first cup in the European Fencing Confederation classification.
Turkish Fencing Federation President Murat Atalı, whose views were included in the statement, emphasized that the achievements were very important and said:
“We are completing the championship by achieving the best European degree among young people to date. This result, of course, makes us both happy and very proud. Especially in these difficult days of our country, which was shaken by the earthquake disaster, the success of our athletes gives us a bit of hope and faith. We support our entire team. Congratulations and I wish you continued success.”
