“Young mom didn’t know she was pregnant”
The baby was found dead on Tuesday evening in De Blauwe Poort, a social neighborhood in Bruges. The autopsy shows that the baby was born alive.
The mother was allowed to leave the hospital this afternoon, says Het Laatste Nieuws. She is now in prison and has been arrested on suspicion of infanticide and culpable neglect. Further investigation must show whether she deliberately killed her baby, or whether the child died after birth.
