The driver, a 21-year-old man from Veurne, was freed by the divers and resuscitated on site by a MUG team. He was taken to AZ West in Veurne in critical condition, where he later died. The driver’s parents, who were following the same route towards Houtem in their car, saw the accident happen, according to Post Commander Brouckxou of De Panne.
