Young goalkeeper of Winkel Sport B becomes unwell and dies

The drama happens in the second half. The goalkeeper can save a penalty, but soon afterwards he becomes unwell. It is immediately clear that the situation is serious. Emergency services arrive at the scene and resuscitate the young man. He is taken to the hospital, but he also dies there.

It concerns Arne Espeel, the nephew of the Ledegem alderman Emiel Debusseré, who works at the Ypres company Picanol. His brother is second goalkeeper in the first team of Winkel Sport.
