Young DSV team takes third place in the team event – alpine skiing – winter sports

Duel for third place against Norway

In the small final against Norway, Germany had the chance to cause a small surprise. As expected, Kremer had no chance against Thea Louise Stjernesund. Rauchfuss then won his race very clearly. So everything depended on Lena Dürr.

Not only did she play against Maria Therese Tviberg, but also against the time of Stjernesund – as this was to serve as a tiebreaker should the clash end in a draw. Dürr won comfortably against Tviberg. But two hundredths were missing in the end on Stjernesund.

So it was up to Gratz to win his duel against Leif Nestvold-Haugen and to secure the podium place with the third point. Gratz got off to a poor start, but he caught up and was able to work his way through the narrow gates in front of his opponents. A success for this young DSV team.

Semi-final against Switzerland

Dürr had previously played against the favorites from Switzerland with a strong run against Delphine Darbelley and scored the first point. Gratz failed narrowly at the European Cup driver Livio Simonet. Kermer had no chance against Andrea Ellenberger.

So it was up to Rauchfuss to get Germany into the final. A slide on the initial slope was ultimately decisive for Switzerland’s success. Before that, Germany had easily prevailed against Italy in the quarter-finals – after all, they had started with Federica Brignone and Marta Bassino.

Favorite duel in the final

In the final there was the expected favorite duel: Austria versus Switzerland. First place against two in the overall World Cup. Ricarda Haaser had put her team in the lead in the first run. But then Switzerland was too strong. Simonet and Ellenberger gave the Swiss the lead before Fadri Janutin made everything clear against Patrick Feurstein.
