It is by far the freshest animal of the three and it is therefore taken for further research. The dolphin is currently in the freezer of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences in Brussels.
Since the animal has no injuries, it is unlikely that fishing is the cause of death. During the autopsy they will look at, among other things, the stomach contents. The researchers can already deduce a lot from this and learn more about the species. Then they will try to preserve the animal’s skeleton.
