A young cyclist was injured this afternoon when she was hit by a car on the roundabout of the Burgemeester Kasteleinweg (N196) and the Oosteinderweg. The girl was taken to hospital with leg injuries. As far as is known, it is the fourth accident in the past three weeks on the roundabouts of the N196.
The student was hit around 2:30 p.m. when she was cycling on the cycle path of the roundabout. Emergency services took her to hospital with leg injuries. The cause of the accident is still unclear.
A fire volunteer who was in the area helped to cordon off the Kasteleinweg to give the emergency services space. The road is now clear, the police spokesman said.
